Spain in September

One of the better times of the year to visit Spain, but this year has been very hot followed by thunder storms. Here is the abandoned town of Granadilla, which was emptied by Franco's government by 1964 as it was deemed to be in the flood zone of Gabriel y Galan reservoir. Needless to say the reservoir is some 400 meters below the town. Maths wasn't Franco's strong point!

The Althop Estate has been busy sowing fields of wild flowers, here at Great Brington. Unfortunately it does not compensate the murder of the hedgerows to the south and east of Earl Spencer's Manor house.
